Challenge No. 3 - Winner & Top 3

I'm so sorry that I didn't get this posted last night but tiredness overtook events.  Anyhow, here we are, tired again, but determined to get this posted tonight, lol.  I should point out, that I am not ill, I just haven't had a good night's sleep since we transferred our youngest from his cot to a bed.  Good nights, I'm up 3 times, bad nights feel like 33.

Anyway, enough of me, on with the results.  I used random.org for the winner and here is the result...

Number 31 was Sammibug.  Congratulations!  Send your name and address to blog@donnasden.co.uk and I'll get your prize out to you as soon as possible.

Now onto our top three, in no particular order,

Congratulations to you all.  Grab the Top 3 badge from the sidebar and add it to your own.  Don't forget to take a look at the current challenge and have a go.

We want to see your 'Green' cards for Challenge no. 4

It looks like challenge  3 went well with 45 entries.  We'll be back later with the winner and top three, but for now a big thank you to everyone who joined in.  This time we've got a colour challenge - Green.  It doesn't have to be monochromatic, just visually we need to see green as the main colour.

Up for grabs this time is a £10 voucher to spend over at Donna's Den of Crafts.  I've added a link to the left-hand sidebar for new products so that you can see what we've got in recently.  At Donna's Den of Crafts we sell a wide range of brands and products to suit all tastes and budgets.  Postage is only £1 and as a family-run business we offer service with a smile.  Please pop over and take a look around.  I'm sure you'll find something you like.

Our Design Team have been busy producing these wonderful creations to give you some ideas.

Aren't they wonderful?  You may have noticed that we have a new name, that's Zoe, who's a guest designer for us for the next four challenges.  Have a look over on her blog to see some wonderful work.  Here are the rules:

The challenge will close at midnight BST (British Summer Time) on  8th August 2010 and the rules are
1. The card must be new for us although you can combine with other challenges.
2. You need to follow the theme/sketch that is set.
3. You can enter more than one card into the challenge (up to a maximum of 3 entries)

Leave your name and a direct link to your entry (not just to your blog) below.  If the link tool is not there for some reason then leave the details in the comments and I'll add you in when I'm doing the draw.

Challenge No. 4 - Green

The theme this time on Donna's Den of Crafts is the colour 'Green'.  Here's my card which I have to say, I am really pleased with.  The main image is a die-cut decoupage from Dovecraft Wild Blossom range.  This was nice and easy to put together and with the addition of some pink crystals, looks really effective.

I saw a tutorial for making the shadow box card on Paul's blog when he entered a recent challenge on my other blog, Cards for Men.  His instructions were so clear that I didn't need to refer back to them as I could remember every bit.  Thanks Paul.

I finished off with a sentiment from Sweet 'n' Sassy Stamps and a couple of mesh butterflies.  I'll probably add an area to the back to write a message.

The prize for the challenge this time is a £10 voucher so hop over to the main post for more details and inspiration from the rest of the Design Team.

Memento Ink Pads in stock

I've just started to stock these wonderful ink pads in my shop.  I used the 'Bahama Blue' on a DT card which you will see on a future Cards for Men challenge.  It was very good, dried really quickly and had a great colour without pressing much at all.

Memento Inks use an innovative pad design which results in finer impressions and exceptionally even coverage.  Take a look here to see the colours available.

I've also got Encore Metallic Ink Pads in stock which, unlike other metallic inks,  dries within minutes on porous paper.

Well off to bed now, but back tomorrow with our new challenge.

Cards for Men Challenge - No. 15

This week over on Cards for Men we have a recipe challenge for you.  You must use 1 image, 2 papers and 3 embellishments.  Easy huh?

I used Popcorn Bear Men's CD to make my card and it was quite a quick and easy card to put together.  I printed out an image sheet and trimmed close to my main image.  The sheet still has about a dozen images on it (of differing sizes) so plenty of scope for more cards.  I also printed out two backing papers.  The other ingredients are Bazzill Basics card for the base card and for layering together with three brads from Basic Grey (Archaic, I think).

I hope you like my card.  Please take a look over at Cards for Men to see the rest of the DT cards and for details of the challenge.  I'd love to see your entries.

Nestabilities in stock

I have just added some nestabilities to my shop. Spellbinders were the first to make triple functioning dies that not only cut but also emboss and can be used as a stencil.  The nestabilities are a great asset with their ability to mix and match creating wonderful mounts and frames for your images.  Click here to see the full range.

Challenge No 2 - Winner and Top 3

So what a wonderful load of entries we had for our sketch challenge.  Have you seen the current challenge?  'It's a man's world' so get your thinking caps on and show us your male cards.

Anyway, the winner was drawn using random.org and was

Lynda.  Congratulations, please email me on winner@donnasden.co.uk and I'll get your prize over to you.

Choosing the top 3 was a lot more difficult as no room for Mr Random.org.  In no particular order, our top 3 are

Congratulations to you all.  Please grab the top 3 badge from the sidebar and add it to your own.

It's A Man's World for challenge No.3

We've had some wonderful entries for our sketch challenge so thanks to everyone who entered.  This challenge has the theme of 'It's a Man's World' which generally means we want to see your male cards.

The prize this time is two wonderful stamps from the Jayne Netley Mayhew

These stamps sets are 4"x4" unmounted rubber and the full range can be found here.

To give you some ideas, here are the offerings from our design team:

So there you have it.  Hopefully, they have given you some ideas.  Here's the rules:

2. You need to follow the theme/sketch that is set.

Challenge No 3 - It's a Man's World

Here's my card for the latest challenge on Donna's Den of Craft where the theme was 'It's a Man's World'.  I saw an idea in issue 56 of Parpercraft Essentials which was to make a mosaic frame.  I thought it was a good idea (especially the thought of ending up with 3 frames) so had a go at adapting it here.  I didn't quite get it right and am a little disappointed but it has taught me things and I know the next try would be better.

I am really please with the main image though which is a Papermania Stamp that has been stamped a few times coloured with Prismas and decoupaged.  The sentiment seemed to fit really well.  It's a little difficult to read in the photo but says 'A winner is a dreamer who never quits'.  The base card is made from Bazzill Basics and the papers are from the Dovecraft Masculine range.  The papers have now been discontinued but I still have brads, adhesive ribbon and chipboards to match which can be found here.

There's a great prize of two Jayne Netley Mayhew stamps and you can find full details on the main post, here.  Thanks for looking.  Hope to see your ideas in our challenge.

Also from Hampton Arts are the Fresh Flocking sets.  Again the come in a range of six different colourways and they sell for just 99p.  Simple stamp an image using a glue pad and sprinkle.  Alternatively, apply glue with a glue pen such as Sakura's Quickie Gluepen.

Cards for Men Challenge - No. 14 and a new challenge blog

The weeks are just whizzing by you know.  Here's my card for the latest challenge over at Cards for Men where the theme is 'Christmas in July'.  The sponsor is the wonderful Roberta from Prairie Fairy and the prize is 5 digis of your choice.

Please pop over to Cards for Men where you'll find all the details and some great ideas from the rest of the team.

For my card I've used Bazzill Dotted (colour:Salt) which has been cut to make a 6" square base.  I've also used Bazzill Basics (Berrylicious and Guacamole) for the layering.  The Design Papers are from Dovecraft 'Tis the Season' and so is the Brad.  The image is from Prairie Fairy and has been coloured with my Prismacolours.  The stamp is from Dovecraft 99p stamps but I don't think it's available anymore.  Shame!

I really liked the way this card turned out because although I have made it with a man in mind, it is very unisex and easy to reproduce.  I may end up with more of these before Christmas.

Hope to see your cards over at Cards for Men.

I almost forgot (in fact I did, lol), the new challenge blog I referred to is Just Inspirational Challenges and here at Donna's Den of Crafts we're proud to be sponsoring their first challenge.  Pop over and have a go.
